The Lanai Art Center in association with the Maui Arts & Culture Center and the Hawai'i State Foundation on Art & Culture presents Kahekili! Performance excerpts and talk story!

Presentation Date - Sunday, May 25, 2 pm, in the Great Hall at the Four Season's Lodge at Koele.

Kumu Hula Hokulani Holt, together with members of the acclaimed hula drama, Kahekili, will present the life and times of the great chief Kahekilinuiahumanu. Through discussions, examples of chant, kahiko (traditional hula), and Hawaiian martial arts, the influence and greatness of Kahekili will be shared. One of Maui’s paramount chiefs, Kahekili's kingdom included all of the islands except Hawai'i Island. His influential rule provided the gateway for Kamehameha the Great to eventually unify all of Hawai‘i.
Open to the public, FREE to all! Seating limited to 100
* This is a scaled-down lecture/demonstration version of the full stage show, modified to fit the small daytime venue on Lana'i.
