Mentoring Program Support

The Lana'i Art Center works with the Lana'i branch of VSA Arts, an international organization that creates arts-related opportunities for people with disabilities. The Lana'i VSA mentoring program is
also funded in part by
the Coalition for Drug-Free Lana'i.

We donate use of Art Center facilities -
classrooms and studios in all disciplines, from drawing and painting to beadwork and ceramics - to the VSA mentoring program
for adult mentors to work with special needs youth. We also provide free administrative and
management consulting.

The mentoring program runs every Monday. Adult mentors are funded, paid positions when grabnt funds are available. If you are an adult with skills to share with young people in need, please contact us at 808-565-7503 or the program coordinator, Dr. Sharie Liden,
at 808-565-7910, Ext. 296.

1,000 Raku Medallions Project

These Lana’i-themed medallions were created by Lana’i special-needs children for display and sale in
The Art Center Gallery and at
the annual Pacific Rim Conference.

All proceeds fund materials and pay for professional adult art instructors who mentor these children.

Please support this worthy cause and take home a lovely piece of original art.

All medallions were created
through the Raku firing process
in the kilns here at the Art Center’s Ceramics Studio and provided an excellent learning experience for
their youthful creators.
